Margie Lewis

Margie Lewis is an artist living in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. She concentrates on expression and storytelling and enjoys capturing the essence and the feelings associated with a place, object or person through her Art. Her work has been greatly influenced by growing up in a small Newfoundland community, surrounded by ocean, dependent on the fishery and also rich in history, culture and family tradition. Having a deep connection to where she is from has guided her to this point in her life that is filled with passion and love for art that she feels is her way of sharing that connection. Her work demands reflection.

Margie had always dreamed of becoming a portrait artist. While attempting to paint her first portrait she soon realized she needed more than what she was able to learn on her own. Through some internet searches she discovered the Realistic Acrylic Portrait School and started following on Facebook and following
Matt Philleo on Youtube. It wasn’t long after (2018) that she joined the school and began learning techniques that really enabled her to capture people like she had never dreamed - something that she actually felt was impossible to achieve. Margie has since won several awards for her portraits. She has completed many commissioned portraits and has a successful art practice. She attributes her success to the Acrylic All Access critiques and the wonderful instruction by Matt Philleo.
