I'm Kimberlynn Milam, an artist with a passion for creating art that brings joy and inspiration. My journey in art has been intertwined with my personal life, deeply influenced by my family, experiences, and the challenges I've embraced along the way.

Background and Family Influence I've been fortunate to share 44 wonderful years of marriage, nurturing a family of three sons and five grandchildren. My love for art has been a significant part of our family life, creating a bond and a shared appreciation for creativity. This familial connection to art began in my childhood, with some of my earliest drawings inspired by "The Jungle Book," particularly the buzzards, which I once painted on my cousin's son's walls at the age of 14.

Exploration and Growth in Art My mother, a strong and inspiring figure who bravely battled Parkinson's disease for 20 years, played a pivotal role in my artistic development. We shared a passion for ceramics, where I learned the technique of airbrushing, a skill that later aided me in mastering blending techniques in painting. Her strength and resilience instilled confidence in me, encouraging me to share my God-given talents with the world.

The launch of my art career began with a pet portrait for a friend, featuring her two dogs. This project led to the creation of KimberlynnCanvas.com, marking the start of my professional journey in art. While I initially focused on pet portraits, the growing interest in people portraits presented a new challenge, motivating me to enhance my skills in this genre.

Mentorship and Continuous Learning The turning point painting a human portrait came when I discovered Matt Philleo's Realistic Acrylic Portraits on YouTube. Participating in one of his painting challenges, I found both inspiration and guidance that propelled my artistic growth. Matt's mentorship, combined with interactions with many other talented artists, has been instrumental in refining my skills and shaping my artistic vision.

Looking Ahead Today, I am committed to continuous improvement and exploration in my art. Each painting is not just a depiction, but a story, a connection, and an expression of the beauty I see in the world.
