Faustina Shea

Having only ever dabbled in sketching with powder graphite in her early 30’s, Faustina began art again while convalescing from a chronic illness in her 50’s. No longer able to work as a Mine Supervisor, she started paint by numbers to keep busy during long housebound illnesses. A friend of a student of Matt Philleo’s suggested she try portraits in the challenge he was offering. At first, like most people she thought she could never be able to do that! Much to her surprise she truly completed her first portrait! She firmly believes, you’re never too old to learn something new. The internet is an amazing resource for people like Matt to share their incredible knowledge.

She completed a couple more challenges through
Realistic Acrylic Portrait School and gained enough confidence to tackle portraits of family members. Particularly of 2 elderly aunts and an uncle. One work was a surprise for her Aunt;s 100th Christmas! Faustina was so thrilled to be able to bring such joy to these elderly relatives and flattered beyond belief when after they passed, the portraits were selected to decorate the casket in church by their immediate family.

She feels she learned so much from
Matt that she has even tackled animal portraits in other mediums as well. She currently does not sell her art, but prefers to surprise family and friends with unexpected little gifts.

She is looking forward to honing her portrait skills in the acrylic glaze method and becoming an All Access member to improve her skills.

She lives with her husband, son and grandson and chihuahua, Teaka and devides her time between Kamloops, BC Canada and The Shuswap Lake, BC. You can reach faustina @ [email protected]
