Andrea was born in Melbourne, Australia, and has loved the visual arts from a very young age. She enjoyed creating art and learning about Art History in High School. Following high school, Andrea pursued Nursing and Midwifery education. In 1989, Andrea moved to Vancouver, Canada with her Canadian husband and soon began a career in teaching Perinatal Nursing. Throughout her 40 years of Nursing, Andrea has continued to find joy in the visual arts. She enjoys sewing, cake decorating, painting, drawing and sculpture.
During the pandemic, Andrea discovered the online Realistic Acrylic Portrait Painting School and participated in her first portrait challenge. The clear, patient and encouraging teaching provided by Instructor Matt Philleo was welcoming for all levels of portrait painting experience. The glazing technique taught in the course, combined Andrea's passion for drawing, the human figure and painting and she quickly fell in love with this method. Following her first painting challenge Andrea became a member of the Realistic Acrylic Portrait Painting School and has continued to learn and grow from Matt (her talented Instructor) and her peers. Andrea and her husband currently reside in Vancouver, Canada, and have four adult children and three grandchildren. Her family is often the subject in her paintings.
